AT 2O21 TEAM EAST - ICA SCORES!

By Max Schwartz ICA had 44 players (11 Teams) compete at the WORLD AMATEUR TEAM & U.S. TEAM EAST (aka Team East or USATE) February 13-14, with outstanding results! While USATE'S 50th Anniversary tournament was online this year, this did not dampen the enthusiasm our ICA teams came with to make the podium.

Perennial favorite, ICA’s FREUDIAN MOUSESLIP, comprised of Dylan, Evan, Max and Yuvanshu, scored 5.5 points out of 6 and tied for 1st place (3rd on tiebreak). Check out the game analysis. Evan Rosenberg and Max Schwartz know no bounds as they have been playing in Team East for 20 years, and for at least 10 years together!

ICA’s history is well established at Team East, having sent our first 2 teams to compete back in 1997 and have participated every year since. We know this is a favorite tournament for both our kids and adults alike and hope to return to Parsippany in person next year with an even broader lineup!

ICA BCA I with Ethan, Matthew, Josh and Bowen scored 4/6 and won top place in the High School section. We are so proud of these boys and all the hard work and preparation they put in to achieving that result. We had a range of ICA students participating, including TWO teams consisting of players UNDER the age of 10! The players were 6 to 9 years old and as far as we can see they have a long successful future ahead of them.

Once again we thank all our students and teachers in showing why ICA is the premiere chess academy it is and that you are the secret to our longevity.
