Thanks to everybody who joined us for our first April Quad of the year. A special thank you to Jay, Jakob M, Joshil, Daniel L, and Jaeden who joined us for the first time this week.
Here’s the report: https://bit.ly/3cQ5VV1
Here are the highlights:
In Over 1000 Section 1, Amitai controlled this tournament. He won with 2.5 points, .5 points ahead Murugan, in second. Indeed, all he needed was a draw in his last game and he got it. His first two games were won using overly complicated tactical combinations requiring lots of calculation. Congratulations Amitai!
In Over 1000 Section 2, Hanrui played very well and won all his games. For one, the secret of his success was a never-say-die attitude. Even when in a slightly worse position than his opponent, he fought repeatedly till he would find a winning tactic. Good work Hanrui!
In Under 1000 Section 1, This tournament was extremely exciting. A loss in the last game for Daniel, and a loss in the second game for Saanvi, did not deter either from tying for first, with 2 points each. Hyland finished right behind them with 1.5 points. No player avoided defeat. Congratulations to both Daniel and Saanvi!
In Under 1000 Section 2, Jeremy stormed to first place with a perfect 3 points. Many of his games were wildly entertaining clashes with lots of twists and turns. For example, in Jeremy vs Chunyu, our game of the week, Jeremy acheived a stylish time-scramble endgame that finished in checkmate. Good work Jeremy!

In Under 1000 Section 3, Nothing could separate Grayson and George They each split first place with 2.5 points. Both players won their first two games, making the last game a straight showdown for the first-place crown. The game was even and ended in a tie, making the tournament a tie as well. Congratulations to both players!
In Under 1000 Section 4, Jakob, a first timer, was the victor with 3/3. It was an assured performance beginning his Super Saturday career. He demonstrated great tactical understanding and used pins or forks to take advantage of any spotted errors. Great work Jakob!
In Under 1000 Section 5, The tournament was won by Mehul with a perfect score. His attacks were excellent. In his game versus second-place Vincent, Mehul carried out a rapid winning attack on the uncastled king. Amazing job!
In Under 1000 Section 6, Joshil, playing with us for the very first time, won his section! Not only that, but he also won all three of his games. Each time Joshil gained an advantage after employing brilliant openings, such as the Italian and Caro-Kann. What a great start, and congratulations Joshil!
