A Note to Parents

Parents want the very best for their children. They want to see their kids learn and succeed academically and then grow up to exercise full potential. Here at International Chess Academy (ICA), it is our mission to help your child develop the skills to do just that.

As an ancient game of intellectual pursuit and critical thinking, Chess provides children the intellectual training necessary to develop life skills that help them navigate courses and make appropriate and successful choices later in life.

With the human brain conditioned to “predict,” anytime one dreams, drives, works, or consciously or subconsciously takes an action of any kind, the brain is involved in the process of examining, analyzing, countering and measuring circumstances. Outcomes and results are often predicated on the discipline of the brain's carefully calculated measure of activity.

At ICA, we teach children how to perfect this
discipline by training, and teaching how to visualize, measure and analyze outcomes.

The correlation between Chess and life is that both require constant observation, assessment, and the making of  predictions while usually facing opposition of comparable strength and skill. In school, in sports, in work children will need to make critical choices to maneuver their actions. Making choices is constant and crucial for survival and success. Chess is the most objective vehicle to teach the confidence needed to develop and practice these skills.

Chess is, as Emanuel Lasker (second world champion) once quipped, “above all a fight!” The fight to meet challenges face-on and make choices that might predict survival and success in a situation.

"Zoya, you are amazing! The children love you. You really take the time with
them and are an extremely dedicated teacher."

 Alex's Dad

“Chess has enriched my son's growth in so many ways. We were so proud of seeing his victories this weekend (at USATE Tournament)  both on and off the board..”

Mrs. Milstein
