ALEX VISCHER

MATH INSTRUCTOR

Alex has loved mathematics since he was young and is still enamored with the subject.
He studied math at the University of Oregon.

For several years, Alex has taught computer science to undergraduates, and mathematics to
kids in the UO math circle (more recently, the Summer 2020 Berkeley math circle).

As a student and as an instructor, he hopes to propagate the philosophy that questions and
mistakes are okay--that the first step on the road towards success is acceptance of one's
own failure.

Outside of math, Alex is quite talented, and plays every orchestral brass instrument (save perhaps the tuba), can ride a unicycle, and enjoys his new favorite poem,#10 in "The Blue Notebook", by Daniil Kharms.
